These are the tips that I use regularly, however I have found some more useful tips that I’m looking forward to implement and I will share them with you below.
More Useful Tips
1.Tilt your machine forward slightly so that you can lean back on your chair.
2.If you have weak eyesight, make sure you get glasses so that you don’t have to stoop forward.
3.Make sure that you have good lighting installed. A simple over head sewing lamp from amazon can go a long way.
4.You can also purchase back support braces like these which can help in posture correction. The best thing about them is that even after removing the braces the effect remains, although you might want to ask your health professional for advice before purchasing one.
So, these are the 10 Tips to Avoid Back Pain While Sewing. The aim of this post was to share some of the tips that I implement myself and should not be in any way taken as a medical advise. Therefore if you suffer from a severe back pain I would suggest that you pay a visit to your personal health professional as they can give better advice in conditions of severity.
That’s the end of the post where I shared 10 tips to avoid back pain when sewing. If you benefited from the post make sure you share it with your friends and sewing circle. You can use the sharing buttons at the bottom and left side of the post.

I’ve noticed that a sewing machine that is in a cabinet is not properly placed to actually work.It is centered to look good in the cabinet.I removed mine from the cabinet and when i sit to sew i sit in line with the foot…not the center of the machine. This has stopped many back problems
Using an office chair that is adjustable helps put you a position to observe your work amd keep your back supported and straight.
Another tip is to use two wedge shaped door stops behind your machine to tilt it slightly forward so easier to view sewing.
